Most of the Geopark’s tourist sites are located in national parks and other protected areas governed by Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife Finland. The Geopark helps the region’s tourism companies to operate more sustainably and to develop their operations towards sustainability certification and the Sustainable Travel Finland label. The Geopark aims to become a sustainable tourism destination under the STF label. We have signed the national principles of sustainable tourism to work for a more sustainable tourism Finland. Lauhanvuori – Hämeenkangas Geopark is part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. Membership of this network obligates geoparks to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We are preparing a Sustainable Development Action Plan for our Geopark and the participation in the Sitoumus2050 campaign.
