The circular route starting from the southern parking area of Alkkianvuori runs mainly through easy-to-walk pine forest and in its northern part on easy-to-walk rocky terrain, although the path also has some rocky sections. Part of the route follows the old cart path leading to the Alkkianvuori tower. The route alignment west of the spring area has changed for about 100 m. The new section is marked in the terrain, but the trail is not yet clearly visible. The old boardwalk section from Ellinviita is no longer in use.
Along the route, there are rest benches on the northern slope of Alkkianvuori. Along the route, there are no opportunities for campfires or toilets. The route is maintained by Metsähallitus, and the service structures on the route have been built by the city of Parkano.
The route starts from the main information board of Alkkianvuori. Follow the path north and at a fork about 60 m ahead, choose the right branch. Continue the path for about 130 m and turn right. Continue on the path for about 650 m, where a side path to Ellinviita spring branches off to the right. The route curves to the left and continues for about one kilometer, where the path joins Lakilenkki. At the intersection, turn left and continue forward on the path. About 200 m later, the path reaches the summit of Alkkianvuori and the ruins of the triangulation tower found there. From the summit, the route continues about 800 m back to the starting point.
