Kankaanpää route
An easy cycling route following paved roads and light traffic paths runs from Kankaanpää town centre to Niinisalo and Jämijärvi's Vihu and Hämeenkangas Kuninkaanlähde and back. The route is well suited as a day trip programme. Services along the route can be found, for example, in Kankaanpää town centre, Niinisalo and the Kuninkaanlähde area.
Many of the sights along the route are also Lauhanvuori - Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark sites. Hämeenkangas and Kuninkaanlähde are geo sites, Kankaanpää art circle and the architecture of Niinisalo barracks area are cultural sites, as is the nationally valuable landscape area of Vihteljärvi around Kuninkaanlähde.

Plan your trip
Head north from the market square to Torikatu and continue along it for about 250 m. Turn right and continue along the light traffic path following Jämintie for about 2 km. Then turn right towards Niinisalo, continue on the light traffic path for about 3.8 km. You will reach Niinisalo; by turning right there is access to the Niinisalo military home (approx. 600 m along Varuskunnantie).
The route continues along the light traffic path following Niinisalonkatu for about 1.5 km. Then turn right to Taulunojantie and continue for about 6 km. Then turn right and continue along Palokoskentie for about 2 km. Turn right and continue along Kuninkaanlähteentie for about 5 km. On the right is the Kuninkaanlähde caravan area, restaurant services and an outdoor swimming pool on the right, Kuninkaanlähde and accommodation services on the left.
From Kuninkaanlähde continue 4 km to Pansiankulma, where at the T-junction turn right. Continue along Pansiantie for about 3 km; after 2 km there is a light traffic path available. At the junction with Kirkkokatu, turn right and follow Kirkkokatu for 1.2 km, arriving at Kankaanpää church. From the church continue along the street that changes into Keskuskatu for about 700 m to Kankaanpää market square, where the route ends.
Bus connections to Kankaanpää bus station from e.g. Pori. Bicycle transport must be reserved in advance.

From the south on road 3 there are route options via Nokian Kolmenkulma interchange towards Pori, from Mouhijärvi towards Suodenniemi and Lavia, and from Lavia towards Kankaanpää. An alternative route is road 3 via Ikaalinen, Jämijärvi and Niinisalo to Kankaanpää.
From the north on road 3 from Parkano take road 23 towards Kankaanpää and follow signage to the town centre.
ParkingFree. There is no parking at the market square on Thursdays from 8am to 4pm, as the square is reserved for market sellers during that time.
