There is a two-kilometer-long Kustaa Moose nature trail in the Metsämuseo area. It starts from the Metsämuseo parking lot and circles around the open Alaisenneva and the fascinating Messukallio to the Metsämuseo campfire site. Along the route, there are eight different panels that encourage action and reflection. The trail has boardwalks and small elevation changes, so it is not accessible for all.
The start and end point at Metsämuseo has a lean-to and campfire site. The route is maintained by the city of Parkano. The trail is marked in the terrain with signs and trail markers. The guidance is complemented by a GPX track available on Outdooractive.
The trail starts from the Metsämuseo parking area. Before the Metsämuseo gate, there are signs for the trail, which first descends through the forest to Alaisellenenva, where there is a boardwalk section. About 200 m ahead, there is a right turn with a small viewing platform. The trail continues for about 100 m and then rises onto a rocky cliff in the forest. The route follows the rocky ridge south for about 150 m and then turns left and climbs a small hollow to the next ridge, following it for about 500 m until it reaches Messukallio.
At Messukallio, there is a scenic chapel, making it a good rest stop. At Messukallio, the trail intersects with Käpykintukka and continues left along the lakeshore. After about 700 m, the route returns to the Metsämuseo yard. A wide plank path leads to a campfire site and lean-to on the right shore. The same plank path leads left back towards the trailhead, partly through the outdoor exhibition of Metsämuseo.
