Mustansaarenkeidas

Mustansaarenkeidas is a mire in Isojoki. It consists of numerous raised bogs and boreal fenslocated between them. In the middle part of the mire area, there are several forested islands of dry land consisting of till and bedrock. Together, they form the Geopark area's largest uniform and largely natural swamp-forest mosaic landscape area.

The Mustansaarenkeidas has been created through the overgrowth of small lakes and ponds and the swamping of forest land. The shape of the mire is complex, which is why the surface structures of the mire in the area are very versatile. In the central part of the mire, there is a nearly 7-hectare Lake Mustajärvi.

The area's raised bogs have a clear surface structure. A large part of the paths in the area are peat-surfaced and impassable. Because of this, the swamp area is the most difficult to navigate in the Geopark area. In the Aapasuo sections, the structure formed by ridges and ponds is found, which is typical of northern aapas.
