GEOfood is food produced sustainably in UNESCO Global Geoparks. The aim of the GEOfood brand is to support local food production, local economies and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
GEOfood is food grown or produced sustainably in Geopark and its environs. The geology and natural conditions of the Geopark influence food traditions and the offering of raw ingredients in the area.
GEOfood products include berries, mushrooms and game found in the mires and forests of the area, fish in the area waterbodies and local agricultural products as well as processed food and pre-packaged meals. Explore the geology of the area with your taste buds!
Local food products and meals in line with the GEOfood brand are already available in numerous UNESCO Global Geoparks around the world. The number of products and businesses in the network is constantly increasing. The GEOfood brand helps people learn more about local food traditions and enjoy pure local food.
Members of Lauhanvuori – Hämeenkangas Geopark can apply for a GEOfood brand license using the attached form.
In order to brand your product as a GEOfood product, you must confirm that the food has been produced in the UNESCO Global Geopark or its buffer zone and complies with the GEOfood criteria and values specified in the GEOfood Manifesto.
