Getting to know the Geopark area

Geopark Ranger training explores the Geopark area and its phenomena.
In the training, we familiarize ourselves with, e.g. the UNESCO Global Geopark concept and networks, the area’s geology, nature and culture, and nature’s well-being effects. Important topics are also the safety of people moving in nature and sustainable tourism. In addition, we practice guiding international groups.

The training includes lectures, field days and assignments.

In the final evaluation, the Ranger trainees guide the group.

The education can be counted as a credit when applying to a university of applied sciences.

There are signposts along the routes that give you more information about the area.

After the training

Those who have completed the Geopark Ranger training have worked actively as guides for groups of visitors as well as school children. They have organized theme days and activities in nature for school classes and 4H club members and told the groups about the nature and culture of the area in addition to Geopark information. Many Geopark Rangers have their own special expertise, which allows them to guide customers particularly deep into the phenomena of the area: for example, the well-being effects of nature, species and cultural history.
