Aika artwork in Kankaanpää

The name "Aika" can be translated as time.

The work was completed in 1995 as a custom work for the Turku and Pori county artwork commission. Ryhänen's work originally consisted twelve small-sized bronze sculptures with human motifs. The work was re-placed in 2021 as a set of five sculptures on a lamppost along the jogging path of Jukola. 

Sculptor Ryhänen has studied visual arts at Liminga Art School, Kankaanpää Art School and Academy of Fine Arts. The works of Ryhänen, who was born in Iisalmi, are in several important public art collections and he has been awarded e.g. in 2021 with the Pirkanmaa Art Prize. Ryhänen teaches sculpture at SAMK Kankaanpää art school.
