The red brick architecture of Kankaanpää

Red brick was selected as the facade material for many buildings in Kankaanpää, thanks to the local brick industry. Later, red brick was chosen as a material on purpose, and it became a very popular construction material in Kankaanpää in public buildings as well as in residential, commercial and industrial construction.

The central objects of Kankaanpää's architecture are the town hall from 1967, as well as the sports center and former parish center completed in the 1970s. These buildings were designed by Kaija and Heikki Siren. The office center completed in 1992 is also a well-known, and it was designed by Kouvo & Partanen. The same office designed the Kankaanpää art school, which was completed in 1995.
