Aivoni ajattelevi artwork in Kankaanpää

The "Aivoni ajattelevi" artwork from 1996 by Pertti Mäkinen & Reijo Paavilainen. The brick relief complements the design of the new building.

The name "Aivoni ajattelevi" is from the poetry collection Kanteletar so it refers to the bright roots of Finnish singing and storytelling culture. The name can be translated as my brain thinks.

Kanteletar is poetry collection compiled by Elias Lönnrot in the 19th-century from Karelian. It is a sister collection to the Finnish national epic Kalevala.

Among other things, Pertti Mäkinen has designed the national side of the Finnish one euro coin currently in use as well as numerous special and commemorative coins.

Pertti Mäkinen and Reijo Paavilainen won the first prize at the Nagano Winter Olympics Snow Sculpture Competition and the most artistic work prize in 1998.
