Church, Siikainen

The Siikainen church has a gable tower, wooden structure and equipped with a cross arm, built in 1888-1889. The church represents the Gothic Revival architecture style.

The church was designed by county architect K.V. Reinius and David Lönnrot was the master builder. There are around 1,200 seats in the church. The church altarpiece "Ristiinnaulittu" was painted by Ilmari Launis in 1911.

Siikainen's previous church burned down after lightning struck it.

You will hear stories and history of Siikainen during the visit to the church museum and the guided cemetery tours. you can see all the villages of Siikainen at once from the church bell tower. In the museum you can find, for example, hymn books from 1841-1888, a fire sprinkler, tools used in the construction of the church and the door of the old church from 1771.
