Isojokilaakso village settlement and Isojoki church landscape

Isojoki used to be an area for hunters. The most fertile rivervalleys were settled in the 16th century.

The village and field landscape of Isojokilaakso is currently guarded by large wooden church from the 19th century designed by C.L. Engel. There is also a handsome bell tower next to the church. Traditional peasant farms have been preserved in the valley. Main buildings of the farms are long with one and a half stories. Other buildings are arranged to border square courtyards. Isojoki still has plenty of old stone fences left.
