The neoclassical wooden church in Karijoki was designed by the famous church builder Salomon Köykkä and completed in 1812. The church is called Helena's Church. It said that a girl named Helena saved the churh from burning during the Finnish War. The Cossacks had set the wall of the churh on fire. Helena had seen this and after the Cossacks had leaved, extinguished the fire by carrying water on it.
The altarpiece of the church dates back to the 1950s and was painted by Kaarlo Lamminheimo. An old altarpiece is placed on the wall. The church has seats for 420 people.
