Kauhajärvi church was started to be built next to the cemetery ten years later. The church was designed by Jaakko Pelto and built by men from Hyyppä village. The logs were hand-carved on site, mainly from trees brought from the parish forest. The church was inaugurated in 1951. Nowadays, the church functions as a multi-purpose space where, for example, family parties and concerts are held. The altarpiece was painted by Ilmari Launis, and it was moved to Kauhajärvi from Kauhajoki church. There are seats for 150 people.
