Kyllikki Saari's swamp grave memorial, Isojoki

Saari was a 17-year-old young woman who was killed in her hometown in Isojoki on May 17th 1953. Saari was cycling home from a devotional in the evening but disappeared on her way home. The body hidden in a swamp grave was found in October of the same year. The murderer was never caught.

Kyllikki Saari was buried on Sunday the 25th October 1953 to Isojoki churchyard. Her grave is located opposite one of the main doors of the church. 

The memorial has a memorial stone erected in 1987 by Kyllikki's sister Alli Hernesharju, her husband Esko Hernesharju and Esa Hernesharju, with a copper plate telling about the incident.
