Tarna tunnel in Kankaanpää

The mural in the light traffic tunnel under Laviantie, near Ruokojärvi, is a tribute to Kankaanpää visual artist and the founder and long-time principal of Kankaanpää Art School, Juhani Tarna. The mural was conceived and designed by visual artist Petri Rummukainen. The work was realized by the students of SAMK Kankaanpää art school under the guidance of Petri Rummukainen in 2019. The work was inaugurated as the Tarna tunnel in 2022.

Petri Rummukainen's artworks are in the art collections of the Helsinki City Art Museum, Espoo, Lieksa and Kankaanpää. Rummukainen teaches painting at SAMK Kankaanpää art school. Painter Petri Rummukainen has studied e.g at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and the Academy of Fine Arts.
