The cultural landscape of Karviankylä

Karviankylä used to be a remote area dominated by mires and forests. The area was permanently settled only from the end of the 17th century. In Karviankylä village, the fields are still small, and they lead gently to Karvianjärvi lake. The shoreline of Karvianjärvi is followed by an old road, along which there are farm complexes that represent the traditional peasant building style of the area.
