Vihteljärvi- Riihonlahti cultural landscape

The Vihteljärvi - Riihonlahti landscape area has several water bodies and wetlands that are not only beautiful, but also valuable for their natural conditions. The waterway that cuts through the landscape begins at Kuninkaanlähde on the edge of Hämeenkangas esker. Lakes in the area have been lowered since the 19th century. Thus, more meadows and fields were obtained for cultivation and cattle grazing. In addition to extensive, rolling farmland, the landscapes are enlivened by waterways and forest islands. The spirit of traditional rural landscapes has been preserved in the area. The settlement is quite dense and the villages follow each other. In some places, old, beautiful rural buildings have been preserved in the villages.
