Aurinkopyörä artwork in Kankaanpää

Aurinköpyörä by Martina Klouzova, 1995.

The artwork’s name Aurinkopyörä can be translated to Sun wheel. Through her artwork, Martina Klouzova wanted to bring the northern people more warmth and sunlight. The wheels made of stone represent earth and nature, whereas the magnifying glass at the top represents thought, the spirit of life.

The inspiration for her work Klouzova got from the famous Bronze Age sculpture “Trundhoml sun chariot”.

“I made my own sun chariot that is in fact a primitive machine for gathering the sun’s rays.” –Martina Klouzova
