Jämi aviation tradition room

In the aviation tradition room, you can learn about Jämi's diverse and significant aviation history. The first sailplane courses were held in Jämi in the summer of 1935. Due to the wars, courses related to military activities were also organized in Jämi, such as radio operator and airplane construction courses. Until the 1960s, Jämi trained teachers, construction supervisors and other leisure aviation specialists. Also the aeronautical engineering students spent their summers in Jämi designing new types of gliders. Over the decades, Jämi's importance as the center of Finnish civil aviation declined with the opening of other airfields, but Jämi has still remained a versatile and popular gathering place among recreational aviators.
