Kuninkaanlähde spring

Kuninkaanlähde is one of the most famous springs in the Geopark area. It is located in Hämeenkangas, on the southwest of Kankaanpää. The spring is one of the most productive in Hämeenkangas and feeds the Kuninkaanlähtenoja, which flows into the Vihteljärvi valley and landscape area.

The Kuninkaanlähde or King's Spring is named after King Adolf Fredrik. He and his entourage stopped at teh spring on their way through Finland in 1752. The king traveled along the Kyrönkangas road, one of Finland's medieval highways. The road was known for its wilderness, as there were only a few houses along the almost 100 km stretch of road following Hämeenkangas and Pohjankangas.

Kunikaanlähde was a center of tourism already in the 19th century. There is a small hotel and a caravan area near the spring. Pirkan ura trail runs nearby.  The spring is easily accessible, it is located in the grounds of the Kuninkaankartano hotel. The stream is on state land and a geosite.
