Kylmänmyllynlähde spring

Uhrilähde and Kylmänmyllynähde are Finland's finest springs. Their specialty lies in the sandy bottom which is constantly alive as water bubbles up from the sand into the spring. The bubbling of water and sand from the bottom forms cloud-like sand statues and ring-like structures that live continuously.

The rate of discharge of water into the spring varies constantly. Water gushes out from the bottom both in large one-time bursts and as continuous small-scale bubbling. Kylmänmyllynlähde has dozens of separate eruption centers.

The water that flows into the springs originates from the Hämeenkanka seam formation, which is an important groundwater area. Water flows within the sand and gravel formation until the ground water level meets the ground surface at the bottom of the formation. There are more than 20 springs in Hämeenkanka. Uhrilähde and Kylmänmyllynlähde are among the best-preserved springs in the area.
