Parkano local history museum
In the museum you can explore e.g. the story of the local celebrity, the Baron of Parkano, forester Gustaf Wrede af Elimä. E.g. an old local dwelling and a large number of old items from the Parkano church are on display. The objects tell e.g. about the lightning strike that hit the campanile of the church on Midsummer 1928. The museum's specialties include the tools of the village cobbler Hilja Mäkinen and the municipality's midwife Anna Helminen, an exhibition showing the making of pettu bread, and Germund Paaer's copy of Gallen-Kallela’s The Defense of the Sampo.
