At Mustansaarenkeidas, the traveler gets a glimpse of the uniqueness of the landscape and species of a large raised bog complex located in the border region of Satakunta and Southern Ostrobothnia. The nature trail of Mustansaarenkeidas, which is well suited as a summer day trip destination, can be easily explored on the nature trail in the northern part of the swamp.

The structures of the area are barrier-free. The area has all the different marsh associations and mire types characteristic of the region.

Mustansaarenkeidas is part of the extensive Haapakeidas mire reserve, which includes a dozen separate large bogs and numerous smaller bogs. The area has all the different marsh associations and mire types characteristic of the region. The area is very valuable.

The route is guided by path signs. The guide is complemented by the GPX trail found on Outdooractive. The route is maintained by Metsähallitus.

Plan your trip

Head left from the parking lot according to the path signs. Follow the flat-gravel route to the edge of the swamp, about 300 m, and then ascend along the gentle ramp onto the bog. Continue along the wide plank path following the edge of the bog, about 250 m away you reach the birdwatching tower. The first floor of the tower can be reached via a gentle ramp. Stairs lead to the second floor. There is a guest book at the tower.

The route continues from the tower onwards and after about 100 m passes again from the swamp into the forest. After about 400 m of forest, the path returns to the starting point.

By road

From Isojoki towards Suojoki, about 6.7 km, turn left onto Piikkilänkyläntie and continue for about 6 km. The road changes to Piikkiläntie, which continues for about 2.5 km until you reach the parking area of Mustansaarenkeidas.
