MOUNTAIN BIKING IN THE GEOPARK

Riding a bike in nature requires concentration, which means that you easily pay less attention to nature and its details. You can connect with nature better if you slow down and take frequent stops to take in the forest atmosphere.

RIDING A BIKE IN NATIONAL PARKS

  • The Geobike trail offers a complete tour of the Lauhanvuori landscape. Two trails run in the heart of the national park: trails of 8 and 16 kilometres, and the connecting route between them (ca. 5 km). The trails can be easily connected.
  • The Katikankanjoni trail offers some of the most beautiful landscapes among all the Geopark’s cycling routes.
  • The Pohjankangas area surrounding the Kauhaneva mire offers various paths suited for mountain biking, but there are no ready-made trails available.
  • The national parks of Lauhanvuori and Kauhaneva–Pohjankangas form a pair of parks that offers plenty to see and do for one or more days. The sceneries change fast when you hop on a bike.
  • The seasons have a significant impact on nature in the national parks, so there is something new to see at each visit.

UNDER THE EVERYMAN’S RIGHTS, MOUNTAIN BIKING IS ALLOWED IN THE LAUHANVUORI AND KAUHANEVA–POHJANKANGAS NATIONAL PARKS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CERTAIN LIMITATIONS.

RENT A MOUNTAIN BIKE

Various companies in the Geopark area rent out mountain bikes, fatbikes and electric bikes. Some municipalities, sports clubs and outdoors associations also rent out and borrow mountain bikes.
