Huidankeidas birdwatching towe

The bird tower is located on the western edge of the vast Huidankeidas raised bog. In front of the tower opens an endless maze of wooded hummocks and diverse wet hollows. Some of the hollows are water filled, some are peat-covered, and some are covered with vegetation. The Hummock and hollow structure of Huidankeidas is one of the best developed in Finland - the maximum height difference between the hummocks and hollows is up to a meter. The vast maze of small waters formed by springs is an excellent habitat for waterfowl.

The tower can be reached along a path of about 800 m. Raised bogs are elevated from their surroundings, so by the time you reach the bird tower, you first climb the stairs to the bog and only then climb into the tower.

Please stay on the marked route - Huidankeidas is a restricted area where movement is prohibited to ensure the nesting peace for the birds between 1st April and 15th July.

There are no other services in the site besides the tower. The site is managed by Metsähallitus, Parks and Wildlife Finland.
