The arts route is a tourist route located in the municipalities of Kauhajoki and Karvia. The length of the route from Kammi village to Skantzi Cultural Center is about 37 kilometers. The route can be reversed or you can visit individual destinations. For a cyclist, there is an optional route back to the start along the Kyrönkangas Museum Road, which runs through the Kauhaneva-Pohjankangas National Park. 

There are five magnificent sites along the route: Kammikylä  and Alpon Savanni, Anne's Art Café, Karvia Church and open-air museum area, and Skantzi Cultural Center.

Plan your trip

The route starts with getting to know Kammikylä. From Kammikylä's parking lot, take the path to the Kammikylä gate. The property is suitable for self-study. The bike can be left at the gate.

When continuing from Kammikylä, turn right and continue on Jokelantie for about 300 m and turn right at the junction. Continue on Nummijärventie for about 1.9 km and turn right onto Sarantie. Continue on Sarantie for about 6.7 km, then turn left onto Alpon Savanni.

After Alpon Savanni, return to Sarantie, turn left and continue for 800 m. Continue for 1.8 km and turn right. Continue on Sarapohjantie for about 12 km until there is Annen Taidekahvila (Anne's Art Café) on the right side of the road.

After getting acquainted with Anne's art café, return to Sarapohjantie, turn right, continue for 1.8 km to Sarvelta, Käntymäki village shop.

In Sarvela, take the pedestrian/cycle lane and continue towards the center of Karvia. After about a kilometer, the pedestrian/cycle lane moves to the left side of the road. Continue the journey until you reach the center of the municipality. The name of the road will change to Kylä-Karvia Road.

Continue the pedestrian/cycle lane through the city center. The church and the local history museum are in a prominent position on the left side of the road.

After the church, continue on the pedestrian/cycle lane to the south. After the municipal center, continue for about 6 km. Take the pedestrian/cycle lane to Karviantie and after about one kilometer you will reach the destination Skantzi Cultural Center, which is on the right side of the road.

No public transport.

By roadFrom the direction of Kauhajoki to Nummijärvi, drive on road 44, but do not turn towards Kankaanpää, and continue straight along the road that turns into 6700 to Nummijärvi. Drive through the village of Nummijärvi and follow the signs to Kammikylä.

From the south, drive to Kauhajärvi, turn right onto Kiviluomantie, continue for about 5 km and turn right onto Kivijärventie, after about 6 km turn right onto Nummilahdentie and continue for about 2 km, then turn left and after about 1.6 km turn right and follow the signs to Kammikylä.

From north along road nr. 3, turn right in Jalasjärvi for about 1.7 km after Juustoportti towards Karvia, continue for 16 km and turn right towards Nummijärvi. After about 9 km, turn left towards the village of Nummijärvi, where there are signs for Kammikylä.

From south along road nr. 3, turn left from Parkano towards Karvia. In Karvia, turn right and drive through the church village. After about 3 km, turn left at the junction towards Kauhajoki and continue for about 20 km and then follow the signs to the right towards Kammikylä.
